The lockdown, which has been going on for two months, not only helped in staying safe from Kovid-19 but also taught us how to live life.

This time of lockdown proved to be very beneficial for those who wanted to stop consuming tobacco. It is better that we understand the lessons learned from this period and keep the good habits from this.

Many times, difficulties also give us the advice to live well. The lockdown, which has been going on for two months, not only helped in staying safe from Kovid-19 but also taught us how to live life.

Two days ago I received a call from a very old patient from America. He told about my well-being as well as taking my news. This phone call once again made me feel happy moments. When you succeed in accomplishing a good work, then it becomes safe in the treasure of your happiness.

These are the Indian students who are scientists and engineers abroad today, who remember me through phone, greeting or message any day in the last week of May every year. I remember that during my studies at IIT and HBTI, he had come to me to quit smoking and tobacco. Their problem was that they had become so accustomed to the consumption of nicotine while staying with friends in the hostel that they started feeling that it is now difficult to get out of its clutches but it was pleasant that they were successful in getting rid of it.

Tobacco Prohibition Day started in 1987. J.K. K. Was an Assistant Professor at the Cancer Institute, Kanpur. This was a period when people did not know much about the ill effects of tobacco. Our institute organized Tobacco Prohibition Day in association with the Rotary Club. Celebrating Tobacco Day also had the hopeful benefit and I believe that this campaign proved to be an effective weapon in the fight against cancer in India. Although the number of cancer patients due to tobacco and smoking in India is close to 275 lakhs, but the good thing is that today a person who consumes nicotine by any means has come to know that it is a major cause of cancer. Later, while working as a director at the institute, I found that the biggest remedy for this is awareness, which is why after retiring, I started the 'Mouth Shikhar' program against cancer, which is still continuing.

When I researched the psychological aspect of nicotine for a long time, the result was that tobacco makes us weak not only physically but also mentally. This time of lockdown proved to be very beneficial for those who wanted to stop consuming tobacco. While living at home, he has said goodbye to smoking and tobacco consumption. Today, immunity is the first weapon in the fight against infection with Kovid-19 and the whole world has accepted that we have to maintain our immunity to avoid every disease, not just corona. The biggest negative aspect of tobacco consumption is that it affects immunity badly along with the risk of cancer. In such a situation, it proved to be a panacea to overcome this addiction.

We must first strengthen our will to get rid of tobacco addiction. Actually we feast on most diseases. Nature has ensured what is suitable for us and what is inappropriate, but where do we believe it.

We have to accept that if we go against the nature, then such epidemics will have to be two to four, that is why we should give up tobacco and ensure prevention of cancer as well as corona infection!
