On June 19, 1981, it was launched with an Ari-1 rocket from French Guiana, France. This was an important achievement of India's space program. This communication satellite of India was used for two years. During this, many important research was done through it. It was dedicated to the country on August 13, 1981 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and its stamp was issued on June 19, 1982, on completion of one year of its launch. In that period, despite limited resources, India had succeeded in making it.

From a political point of view, on this day i.e. June 19, 1970, the leader of the country's main political party Congress, Rahul Gandhi, was born. At the same time, Aung San Suu Kyi, who struggled for years to establish democracy in Myanmar, was also born on 19 June.
